چکیده
This study investigates the concept that when localized bridge superstructure damage is present, weights of passing vehicles inferred from a rotation-based weigh-in-motion (B-WIM) system will deviate those predicted by strain-based B-WIM system. Rotation measurements were gathered 5.4-m simply supported laboratory model crossed repeatedly four-axle vehicle. Damage was incorporated bolting stiffening plates onto sections test bridge. “negative damage” concept, consisting local increases in stiffness, allows several scenarios to be investigated on The experimental results show negative rotation-calculated gross vehicle decrease, while strain-calculated remain unchanged. It also shown approximate location can identified.

A Wavelet-based Bridge Weigh-in-motion System
Bridge Weigh-in-Motion systems can be used to estimate vehicle parameters such as velocity, axle loads, or the distance between axles without affecting the traffic. These parameters and the classification of vehicles are necessary to determine vehicle overload and hence may help to reduce risks for road users and road infrastructure and allow optimized planning of maintenance work. The Bridge W...
متن کاملAvailability analysis of mechanical systems with condition-based maintenance using semi-Markov and evaluation of optimal condition monitoring interval
Maintenance helps to extend equipment life by improving its condition and avoiding catastrophic failures. Appropriate model or mechanism is, thus, needed to quantify system availability vis-a-vis a given maintenance strategy, which will assist in decision-making for optimal utilization of maintenance resources. This paper deals with semi-Markov process (SMP) modeling for steady state availabili...

15 صفحه اولApplying Weigh-in-motion traffic data to reliability based assessment of bridge structures
The knowledge of the process of the deterioration of structural resistance is crucial for existing bridge assessment. However, precisely modeling the process of loading also affects the evaluation. Indeed traffic loading is one of the main loads that a bridge is subjected to in its service time. This paper investigates the role of traffic loading on the time-dependent reliability of a given bri...
